  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped dates with the baking soda and enough boiling water to cover. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cardamom.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  6. Fold in the date mixture until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
