French Onion Soup Pasta Recipe

A comforting and flavorful dish that combines the classic taste of French onion soup with pasta.

  • 8 ounces pasta of your choice
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, cook the chopped turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the sliced onions to the pot and sauté until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Pour in the broth, thyme, and balsamic vinegar, and bring to a simmer.
  6. Add the cooked pasta and turkey bacon back into the pot, stir well.
  7. Top with shredded Gruyère cheese, cover, and let it melt for a few minutes.
  8. Season with salt and pepper before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of white wine in the sauté process.
