Mediterranean Chicken Gyros

A delicious and easy recipe for Mediterranean Chicken Gyros that brings the flavors of Greece to your home.

  • 1 pound chicken thighs
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1 cup sliced cucumbers
  • 1 cup sliced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Grill the chicken over medium-high heat for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until cooked through.
  4. Remove from grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  5. Warm the pita breads on the grill for about 1 minute.
  6. Assemble the gyros by placing the sliced chicken on the pita and topping with tzatziki, cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onion.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add some sliced jalapeños.
  • Resting the chicken after grilling helps retain its juices.
