Pretzel Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit until foamy.
  3. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until combined.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
  5. Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into bites.
  6. In a saucepan, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Drop the pretzel bites into the water for 30 seconds.
  7. Remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes
