  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together applesauce, vegetable oil, and brown sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Add vanilla extract and walnuts if using, and mix gently.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
